Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Plant Maintenance Technician

Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for the repair, installation and maintenance of glass/aluminum machinery, including hydraulic and pneumatic components.

Experience Requirements

4+ years plant maintenance experience with expertise in the following areas: Preventive maintenance, Electrical maintenance (480VAC3Ph), Electrical control systems, Hydraulic machine maintenance, Pneumatic machine maintenance.

Education Requirements

Knowledge of machine theory, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, pipefitting and machine design. Knowledge of machinery and support systems according to manufacturer’s guidelines/specifications/manuals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Repairs, installs, and maintains machinery related to the glass and aluminum industry.
  • Repairs and maintains mechanical/hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines.
  • Dismantles machinery to perform repairs, detect wear, misalignment, and other problems.
  • May prepare written specifications for major repairs or parts production.
  • Selects appropriate materials and develops materials bill. Completes requisitions for materials, tools and equipment.
  • Maintains a preventive maintenance program.

Qualifications

  • Skills:
    • Troubleshooting ability
    • Ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics
    • Interpersonal communication skills
    • Computer skills
    • Must be able to operate hand or power fork lift
  • Dexterity: Needs to be steady during work with hands.
  • Strength: Repair procedures often require the lifting, positioning and holding of parts in place during procedure.
  • Stamina: Workload dictates long hours on feet, often in hot conditions.
  • Working hours: Monday - Friday (may require some Saturdays)
